In the composition of the face, the artist Cretara has designed the tree of democracy with helicoid* roots forming the DNA of the land of San Marino. Among the leaves, three female figures blossom, representing the Three Tower emblem of the Republic of San Marino. Each figure bears a gift, an olive branch, symbol of peace, a sheaf of grain, symbol of prosperity, and an oak branch, symbol of power. The diversity of the gifts expresses the concept that a society and progress only through balance and a civilized, democratic discussion of different forms of thought. On the back, the Three Towers are shown rising above the harmonious interlacing of the three plants of olive, oak and grain.
