2006 Gold Coin Torch Relay

The new 2006 Gold Coin Torch Relay is available from the Royal Canadian Mint.

This is a beautiful pure .9 percent gold coin with a weight of 16.129 grams and a face value of 50 euros.

This coin has a limited mintage of 6,000 coins so is expected to increase in value over the coming years quite nicely.

The obverse depicts the Torch Relay of the Olympics. The most visible symbol of the modern Olympics dates back to ancient Greece. Ignited by the sun in ancient Olympia, the sacred flame would pass from runner to runner as the torch traveled across the land to the host city.
Centuries later, the flame still symbolizes the burning desire for perfection and victory, friendship and peace - the anticipation of the Games begins to build the moment the torch is lit!

This coin is only available from the mint in Canada but one can expect to eventually acquire it from coin dealers around the traps in the not too distant future.

The coin is currently 879.95 dollars Canadian plus shipping.
