Former ANC president Chief Albert Luthuli was featured in the series last year.”

"The archbishop is a very, very special person both from a religious and spiritual view, also as a councillor, peacemaker and (for) playing an important role in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission," Mboweni said.

The new 2006 Protea gold coin series set consists of three coins, the one troy ounce gold coin, a one tenth of an ounce gold coin and a one Rand sterling silver coin. All are available from the South African mint.
