Emu Gold Coin Fauna Gold Series

The 3rd release in the Fauna series by the Perth Mint, Australia is the Emu Gold Coin- 2006 Proof Coin.

The gold coins are half ounce, one tenth ounce and one twentieth ounce proof quality 99.99 percent pure gold.

These gold coins are available either singly or as a five coin set.

They are Australian Legal Tender and are very well packaged and come with a Numbered Certificate of Authenticity.

Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the coin depicts Ian Rank-Broadley's effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on its obverse.

The coin's reverse depicts an Emu (Dromaius noveahollandiae), Australia's largest bird. Although it cannot fly, an Emu's powerful legs mean it can run as fast as 50 kilometres an hour over the continent's dry plains. Emus are ratites, the oldest of modern bird families. Their primitive feathers help them survive in a wide variety of climates, including the snowfields of Australia's high country. The year-date and The Perth Mint's traditional ‘P’ mintmark also appear in the design.

Each coin is housed in a superb presentation case with a lid made from Australian jarrah timber. The case comes in a protective outer shipper featuring Discover Australia's distinctive logo.

Emu Gold Coin Fauna Gold Series has a limited mintage. The Perth Mint will release no more than 1,000 of the half ounce, 2,500 of the one tenth ounce and 25,000 of the one twenty-fifth ounce gold coins world wide.

The Emu gold coins are beautiful and make an ideal addition for those collecting the Fauna Series of coins.

Future of Gold

The future of gold is something everyone is interested in. Will the trend continue and how far? And, just as importantly, will it maintain its value.

Gold has traditionally been a safe refuge or haven for people seeking to safeguard their assets. Even when gold has dropped in value it has always improved again later so sitting on your assets, so to speak, at that time is probably the best idea.

It looks quite likely that gold will continue it’s steady rise so now, as well as any other, is a good time to buy gold.

As Bob in Bob’s column said recently, “When you actually work with the numbers, what lies ahead is STAGGERING. How does one cover more than 10,000 tonnes of gold when mine supply is less than 2500 tonnes per year, and scrap supply is probably running around 800 tonnes per year, and the deficit is running at least 125 tonnes per month? YOU CANNOT … which is why the price of gold could do anything to the upside at any time.” Future Gold

The question then becomes. Which gold should I buy?

Gold comes in many forms. Bullion in the form of gold coins and bars, Exchange Traded Funds(ETF) and GoldMoney.com are just some of the forms of gold available. Each have their advantages and disadvantages, mostly concerned with tax considerations and the price one pays. It is a good idea to shop around and do some due diligence to find the medium suitable for you and your circumstances. This website contains a wealth of information on gold in all it’s popular forms so a good browse will net you some interesting and vital information.

It is evident however that the future of gold is going to be a vitally interesting one and it seems unlikely that the future of gold will be anything other than great.

Danish Gold Coins

A new thematic coin inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale 'The Shadow' is issued on 24 April 2006 by the Danish Mint.

This is the third in a series of five coins with fairy tales as their common theme. The fairy tale coin is a 10-krone coin issued in three metals, gold, silver and an ordinary 10-krone coin.

Only 5000 of the gold coin have been minted and the silver coin only 50,000 have been minted.

All fairy tale coins are legal tender and can be exchanged at Denmark's National Bank at face value.

'The Shadow Coins', as they are called, can be purchased from banks and coin dealers in Denmark and will soon be available from other dealers around the world.

The recommended retail prices including Danish VAT are kr. 2,000 for the gold coin and kr. 200 for the silver coin.

The coins can also be purchased from Denmarks National Bank, Banking Services, during the daily opening hours from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Royal Mint also takes orders on tel +45 43 45 40 11 or e-mail [email protected]

These Danish gold coins are quite pretty and will, no doubt, make a nice addition to any coin collection.
