Danish Gold Coins

A new thematic coin inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale 'The Shadow' is issued on 24 April 2006 by the Danish Mint.

This is the third in a series of five coins with fairy tales as their common theme. The fairy tale coin is a 10-krone coin issued in three metals, gold, silver and an ordinary 10-krone coin.

Only 5000 of the gold coin have been minted and the silver coin only 50,000 have been minted.

All fairy tale coins are legal tender and can be exchanged at Denmark's National Bank at face value.

'The Shadow Coins', as they are called, can be purchased from banks and coin dealers in Denmark and will soon be available from other dealers around the world.

The recommended retail prices including Danish VAT are kr. 2,000 for the gold coin and kr. 200 for the silver coin.
