2006 Chinese Gold Coin


On May the 1st, The People’s Bank of China issued a set of Panda Commemorative gold and silver coins celebrating the Shenyang Commemoration of the International Horticultural Exposition.

The set consists of one gold and one silver coin, both of which are legal tender in China.

The obverse design on the coin features the Hall of Praying for Good Harvest of the Temple of Heaven in Beijing, and the title of the People’s Republic of China, year 2006, as well as some Chinese characters.

The reverse design on the 1/4 ounce gold bullion coin features a mother panda and her son, characters ‘1/4oz Au.999’, ‘In Commemoration of International Horticultural Exposition 2006 Shenyang China’ and the face value.

The reverse design of the 1 ounce silver bullion coin features a mother panda and her son, characters ‘1oz Ag.999’, ‘In Commemoration of International Horticultural Exposition 2006 Shenyang China’ and the face value.

The specifications of the coins are as follows:

The 1/4 ounce round gold coin is bullion in quality, contains 1/4 ounce of pure gold, 22mm in diameter, 100Yuan in face value, 99.9% in purity, the mintage is 10,000 coins. 
 
The 1 ounce round silver coin is bullion in quality, contains 1 ounce of pure silver, 40mm in diameter, 10Yuan in face value, 99.9% in purity, the mintage is 30,000 coins.

This set of gold and silver commemorative coins were minted by Shenyang Mint and exclusively distributed by China Gold Coin Incorporation. They come with a certificate of authenticity as well.
